Alan McKee has worked as an actor and comedian in Ireland and the UK for over twenty years. With his long-time collaborator Conor Grimes, he has written and performed in many plays and sketch shows. In 2007 they toured the North of Ireland on two vintage tractors, performing a comedy show in a marquee to rural communities. The tour was filmed and broadcast as The Tractor Show on BBC Northern Ireland. In 2002 Grimes and McKee wrote The History of the Troubles… Accordin’ to my Da, with playwright Martin Lynch. The play has since toured many times and been seen by over 100,000 people. Alan is a trade unionist and represents the arts and entertainment union Equity on the Irish Congress of Trade Unions International Solidarity Group.
Alan is a cast member in Global Arts Corps’ Hold Your Tongue, Hold Your Dead and worked with the Global Arts Corps in both South Africa and Kosovo.
