Robert Koen is an actor and vocal coach with added passions for music, puppetry and physical theatre. Since the start of his career, he has been involved in educational theatre; touring rural communities and schools all over South Africa. Subsequently, he has gained ample experience in corporate theatre, theatrical writing, cabaret and musical theatre.

Off-West End in London he appeared in legendary South African musical director, David Kramer’s Die Ballade van Koos Sas, and back in Cape Town he was seen in Graeme Weir’s cantata version of his original a capella musical, Noah and in Karen Jeynes’ Is Everybody f*!#@ Perfect? At the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival he was nominated for a Kanna Award for his role in Die Hangkas Haas (The Closet Bunny), a cabaret by Hennie van Greunen.

Robert is an original cast member of Global Arts Corps’ Truth in Translation and formed part of the creative team of Global Arts Corps’ Hold Your Tongue, Hold Your Dead that performed at Arts Emerson in Boston, Massachusetts. He studied Kinesensic Vocal Training through the Lessac Institute, with Kinesensics Master Teachers Deb Kinghorn, Nancy Krebs and Barry Kurr as his mentors.
