Introducing Nick Boraine

Introducing Nick Boraine

Dear friends,

We are making some changes at Global Arts Corps.

In January 2025, Nick Boraine will officially become the new artistic director at Global Arts Corps. All of us at GAC are pleased and proud to welcome Nick into this new role.

Michael will stay on working closely and actively with Nick. He will continue to direct theatre productions and will head a series of new research projects relating to mental health and education. He will also remain on the GAC board of directors.I will remain as executive producer.

Many of you know Nick as he has been an associate artistic director at GAC for the last 20 years and has participated one way or another in all our work since then, and has represented us around the world at all kinds of public events.

Nick, who currently lives in Los Angeles with his family, is an actor, writer, and director from South Africa where he grew up in a family fighting against apartheid. His father, Alex Boraine, was co-chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission with Desmond Tutu, both of whom were members of the GAC international advisory council.

He has recently been part of the work we’ve been doing with children in Kosovo, South Africa, France, and on the Wind River Indian reservation in Wyoming. We are exploring additional places as well. Most specifically we are currently in final talks with a strong and significant group in Israel that brings together Arab and Jewish youth. We intend to be there in 2025.

In these uncertain times, we are excited to share the long-range plans that Nick and Michael have designed for the next three-year period. In the next week Nick will be writing to follow-up and address you all and share these plans. I’m sure you will agree that now is a very appropriate and crucially important time to continue to support us in our work. We believe that under Nick’s charismatic leadership we can expand exponentially and grow GAC to respond to breaking cycles of violence and hatred around the world with far greater consistency. Children talking to children across borders will be one of the resources we will continue to develop.

In that spirit Michael and I are directly asking those of you who can, to please consider at least a one-time donation to help us grab the opportunity now and build bridges to a more creative and hopeful future.

Warm regards with best wishes for the holiday season and many thanks for all your past support that got us here.
