Josh Alexander is a Writer/Director/Producer and one of the founders of Group Effort Films. His recent films include Oscilloscope's Jay Myself , Cinema Guild's I'm Leaving Now and HBO Documentary Film's United Skates (Audience Award,Tribeca Film Festival; IDA Nomination). Previous credits include CNN Films The Reagan Show (2017 Critics Choice Award Nomination for Best Political Documentary, Cinema Eye Honors nomination for Best Editing), Samuel Goldwyn Films Prescription Thugs and HBO Documentary Film's Southern Rites (nominated for The Humanitas Prize).
Other credits include GAC's A Snake Gives Birth to a Snake and the Sarah Jessica Parker executive-produced Pretty Old. In the fiction world: the Alan Bates film Sins of a Father and Backseat (winner, Audience Award at the Austin Film Festival). His films have played at film festivals including Tribeca, Locarno, Hot Docs, DOC NYC, Full Frame, Morelia, among many others. And have been acquired and licensed by distributors, broadcasters and streamers including HBO, CNN Films, Oscilloscope Films, Cinema Guild, Samuel Goldwyn Films, Gravitas, Hulu and Netflix.
